I hear you. Strangely, I was thinking a similar thing about his tragic loss not last week ...

I still remember reading about it in the local newspaper and feeling stunned. He was one of the first actors whose work I enjoyed who was close to my own age (most of the actors I'd liked up to that point were a good ten years older than me or more), so it felt like we'd all lost someone from our own generation, you know? And he was so talented. It just seemed like he had so many more interesting roles ahead of him, in film and in life. He was such an unusual man.

It's been years since I've watched one of his films, but any time I see a commerical on cable for one of his scenes in "Stand By Me" or "Sneakers," I just feel sad.
