netflix is happy-making

since i bought a new computer, i finally have the software to use netflix's on-demand viewing.  oh you guys.  what a dream. it's awesome.  they seem to be adding titles all the time and adding really new stuff too.  like i can see the united states of tara which i've been curious about.  and since i have computer/television connectivity, i can watch on my big screen without having to buy one of their machines.  oh yeah, bb.  like i need more ways to be a media consumer and sit on my ass.   but i know you know how marvy this is.

also the kitchen is done.  it is beautiful.  concrete countertops and new paint and new sink and new wall-mounted faucet. it's kind of like having a whole brand new house. and now i can finally put down the rug that sort of inspired the whole thing!  except the domino effect is that now i have to paint the living room as well 'cause the new colors make the old living room color look all washed out--not bad, mind you, but washed out.  yeah.  but i think that'll wait til summer break. it's wonderful to have my home back with no worker guys (as enzo calls them) in and out.  and the mess.  oh the mess. dust everywhere.  dirt everywhere.  done!!!!  all done!!!!  and also i don't have to worry about leaving my bra hanging on the closet doorknob which i did one day and was vaguely mortified by it when i got home and saw it drooping there. ahem.  my kitchen is done!!!

and now since i'm up so early, i'm going to watch the first ep of season 2 oz.  i am totally hooked.  i love harold perrineau in this, but actually all the guys are wonderful.  here's a funny thing: jk simmons who plays vern schillinger on the show bears such an uncanny resemblance to my drummer that i'm a little bowled over and now crushing on both of them...what makes it really funny is that schillinger's character is an aryan nation asshat and i'm a jew.  but sessy's in the eye of the beholder, i s'pose.  does that make me pervy?  hmm.  questions for the ages.

eta: not that it matters but i've rediscovered my supernatural love too. i kinda forgot about it post-writer's strike, but when i remembered i wanted to catch up was able to find the end of 3rd season as well as all the 4th season eps.  so i'm mainlining that as well.  oh tv how i love you.  and soon i'll be able to finally read the (awesome-sounding) fic i've missed chez svilleficrecs !  so go, team me!

but i've rediscovered my supernatural love too

In case you missed it, I've developed a ridiculous love for this show over the last two months or so. Seriously. HUGE. I did a giganamous SPNspam yesterday to try to encourage some more of my f-list to watch it, so I'm now uber-happy that you're already there. :D

yes i found my way back to supernatural! and now i'll have to go check out your picspam...though i'm curious, will i be spoiled? i might wait if you've got stuff form 4th season. i'm sort of rabidly anti-spoiler.

glad i can give some glee today. it is such a silly wonderful goofy awesome inappropriately sexy show.

No, you shouldn't be spoiled. It's kind of an introductory picspam so isn't very spoilerish, although there is some fangirling over one of the new characters in s4. (I say his name and what (species?) he is, but don't mention anything else. Mostly it's just "Ooh. Pretty.")

Glee is awesome and that is a perfect description of the show, although I feel "cracktastic" should be in there somewhere. :P

yes!!! cracktastic is the perfect word for that show. it is definitely in the 'so bad it's good' category of entertainment. and honestly i think i'd watch jensen eckles do laundry. or his taxes. or just sit and breathe. yep. i do think i would.

Is it sad that I would too? The SPN love has been accompanied by major Jackles love. So much so that I've started writing SPN RPS (under a different account because, lol, shame.) Damn you, show, for making me want to read/write about pretty boys doing dirty (but non-incestuous) things to each other.
Jan. 31st, 2009 07:52 pm (UTC)
my goodness, bertie! can you bypass your shame and share with me? i'd love to read it (i'm kind of a pervy sucker for rpf. i have deep love for lotrps actually.) whaddya say? pretty please?
Jan. 31st, 2009 08:23 pm (UTC)
Only if you promise not to mock me and to never ever ever tell anyone else. (You're probably the only one on my f-list who would actually read this stuff of their own free will anyway.)
Oh, and most of it's AU as well in case that puts you off?
*hopeful face*
Jan. 31st, 2009 08:32 pm (UTC)
giggle. i will never mock you and never ever tell anyone else!! i really do promise. if you'd rather email me the link or file than post it here in the thread (which i totally understand), you can send it to julia dot abra at gmail dot com. and i promise your secret is safe with me!! *rubs hands together in anticipation of jackles luv*

Ooh! You're starting into the Chris Keller seasons now. I think he comes in around the 3rd or 4th ep of season 2, but I could be wrong.

Oh, gah, Schillinger! I both hated him and found him amusing over the course of the series, and I hated it when they made me feel compassion for him. To the point where I winced when watching JK Simmons on SVU. Although, I loved him Juno. "Thank you for having me and my irresponsible child over to your house."
Jan. 31st, 2009 05:07 pm (UTC)
i know it's a little weird, this schillinger thing. i think it's cause he looks like matt but it might just be him.....dunno. and maybe it's best not to probe too deeply.

you're right--he's shows up in ep 4. can't wait to get meloni in the mix. i love this show!
Jan. 31st, 2009 10:26 pm (UTC)
Well, he does have those striking blue eyes, and Simmons is obviously an excellent actor.

Oz was one of those series that fascinated me and which I loved, but it wasn't one that I'd watch over and over again, I think because it was sometimes difficult to watch. Keller was my 'oh my god so hot' guy, but the two i found most fascinating were Said and Beecher. I'm always up for talking Oz, so feel free to blather on as you go!

oh fuck you know what i just found out? netflix has svu--all of the seasons--on immediate view. oh jenn. i may be in for serious trouble. just tell me not to do it.
Jan. 31st, 2009 10:23 pm (UTC)
Oh man. This is the thing, if you sort of fall for Meloni? You're pretty much fucked.

Also, seasons 1 and 2 and 3 of SVU are pretty much amazing in a 'holy crap these people are hot and have chemistry' sort of way. It's just those last two seasons that trample on your heart.

Jan. 31st, 2009 05:08 pm (UTC)
Thank you! I hope you like it. :) (I think this may have inspired me to have another go at the next section, after I get up the gumption to go get coffee)
Jan. 31st, 2009 05:11 pm (UTC)
ooh more fic. well i'm having to wait to read til i can catch up to the eps you're writing around. but i've got my eye on the prize! i hope your inspiration for more strikes well and soon!

happy coffee! and happy writing!
